Lane Has Moved Again

After 28 years as a studio artist and instructor at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA, and a more than decade-long sojourn in Bluffton, SC, Lane has relocated to the suburban Richmond, VA area. Lane continues to draw inspiration from the natural landscapes and the emotions they elicit. Her vibrant oil paintings are in private and public collections worldwide.

“I embrace the world through color… oil painting is my joy and often, my savior.”

Lane’s evocative “spirit-scapes” are drenched in color using a loose impasto application along with  old master glazing techniques. This creates oil paintings with unique textures and luminosity. Layers of brush work and palette knife application create depth and mystery within each canvas. A sensual use of color pays tribute to her mentors, the impressionists.

“When working from one’s imagination, a painting can only be coaxed… eventually the work must follow its own life-force, be it playful, forceful or impulsive.”        

Lane is continuing her passion in her new studio and is showing her available paintings via this website and at her home in Virginia.

Commissions:

Available in select styles.  Lane’s creative approach to the process invites you realize your vision through her voice and brush. The commission process creates a personal connection to the final painting.

All paintings are oils on deep-sided canvases with the sides painted as part of the composition. This presentation gives a finished appearance that does not necessitate framing.
